Our Story: Where Ancient Wisdom Meets Modern Life
When Life Calls for Something Deeper
In South County, St. Louis, there's a place where women gather not just to stretch their bodies, but to stretch their souls. South River Yoga isn't just another fitness studio, we're a sanctuary for women navigating life's most profound transitions.
We understand because we've been there. The juggling act of caring for aging parents while supporting adult children. The sleepless nights of perimenopause. The corporate stress that leaves you feeling disconnected from yourself. The retirement dreams that feel both exciting and uncertain.
This is where yoga becomes more than movement…it becomes your anchor.
Our Values
Community: You Belong Here
Walk into South River Yoga and you'll discover something rare: a community that truly gets it. Our members are primarily women who understand that this phase of life isn't about slowing down—it's about showing up more authentically than ever before.
Here, you'll find:
Women who may have discovered yoga later in life and now can't imagine living without it
A supportive sisterhood that celebrates every small victory
A judgment-free space where your practice is perfect exactly as it is
Deep friendships forged through shared intention and growth
We believe that healing happens in community. When you practice with us, you're not just attending a class, you're joining a circle of women committed to supporting each other through life's beautiful, messy, transformative journey.
Clarity: More Than Just Poses
Yoga philosophy isn't just ancient wisdom gathering dust—it's your roadmap for modern living.
Every class at South River Yoga weaves together:
Breath work that calms your nervous system and clears mental fog
Mindful movement that reconnects you with your body's innate wisdom
Practical philosophy that helps you navigate difficult decisions and relationships
Meditation techniques that create space between you and life's constant demands
We're not here to help you perfect your handstand (though we'll cheer if you want to try!). We're here to help you perfect your ability to show up for your life with presence, purpose, and peace.
Growth: Your Journey, Your Pace
Real growth isn't about becoming someone else—it's about becoming more yourself.
Whether you're dealing with:
The physical and emotional changes of different life phases
Stress from caring for multiple generations of family
The deep desire to connect with something meaningful
...our classes, workshops, and retreats meet you exactly where you are.
We offer:
All level classes that honor your body's changing needs

Our Mission: Your Transformation
At South River Yoga, we believe that clarity of mind leads to growth in all areas of life. Our mission is simple: to provide a welcoming space where you can slow down, tune in, and remember who you really are beneath all the roles you play.
This isn't about flexibility or fitness, though you'll gain both. This is about finding your center in a world that often feels off-balance. This is about discovering that the wisdom you seek already lives within you.
Meet the Owner-Annie Geile: Your Guide Through the Beautiful Journey
Studio Owner | E-RYT® 200, YACEP®, RYT®500 | Reiki 1 & 2 | Former Corporate Executive
Like so many women who find their way to us, I discovered yoga during one of life's most challenging seasons. In my thirties, while battling an illness, raising two kids, and managing a demanding corporate career, I was skeptical that yoga could offer much beyond basic stretching. But sometimes life pushes us exactly where we need to go. What began as a desperate search for physical healing became a complete transformation in how I approached everything—parenting, work, and most importantly, caring for myself. After 25+ years in the corporate world, I knew I'd found my true calling.
When I took over ownership of South River Yoga in January 2023, I knew I wanted to create something special: a space where women could find not just physical healing, but the community and clarity needed to thrive in midlife and beyond. If you're looking for a place where people truly understand your journey, you'll find your home here. My teaching philosophy centers on meeting you exactly where you are—no judgment, no pressure to be anywhere other than right here, right now. Because the most powerful transformations happen when we feel truly seen and supported.
